When to replace roof tiles?

A tiled roof requires little maintenance
A tiled roof requires relatively little maintenance, which is one of its main advantages. With a tiled roof, you don't have to worry about anything. Types of roof tiles we lay
We lay concrete and ceramic roof tiles from brands such as Monier, Koramic, Eternit, Lafarge, and Nelskamp. The type of tile we recommend depends on the neighboring roofs and what tile best suits your house and the surrounding area. Often, we choose a similar tile, but a newer model. If concrete or ceramic tiles were previously used, we often choose the same type of tile when replacing your roof tiles. If you have a detached house, you do not have to take into account surrounding roofs and you have complete freedom in choosing the type of tile you want us to lay.
How much does it cost to replace ridge tiles?
The costs of laying roof tiles depend entirely on the size of your roof, whether the roof tiles need to be completely replaced or just a part of them. In addition, the cost of removing the old roof tiles is also included in the total cost estimate. Therefore, we cannot estimate the costs in advance without inspecting the roof. To provide an accurate cost estimate, we come to inspect your roof free of charge before giving a quote. On average, you can expect costs between €180 and €350 per m2.

Roof tiles have an extremely long lifespan. For example, ceramic roof tiles can last for about 75 years, while concrete roof tiles can last for approximately 40 years. Sometimes, it may be the case that some roof tiles need to be replaced earlier, for instance, if they become porous. Therefore, we always recommend a preventive roof inspection once a year to prevent roof leaks caused by broken roof tiles.
If you have an older roof, at some point the water-repellent layer will disappear and the tiles can become porous. Porous roof tiles can easily absorb water and retain it, which can lead to a roof leak.
The cost of new roof tiles depends entirely on the type of roof tile you choose. On average, you can expect the cost of a new tiled roof to be between €85 to €150 per square meter, excluding the cost of installation.
Wind-blown roof tiles are the result of a poorly laid tile roof. Tiles that are securely fastened will not quickly blow off in bad weather. Another cause is poor ventilation of a tile roof. A well-ventilated roof prevents moisture and roof tiles from blowing off the roof. Roof tiles that blow off the roof are extremely dangerous because loose tiles can cause a lot of damage.
